INTRODUCTORY POST

Welcome everybody 

to my Velvet Room!!!

My own corner on the internet where only those who are into, or curious about, poetry may enter.

Here I'll be posting some of the poems I write in my spare time, and I hope to get some audience to share these with, get some feedback, and so on.

With that said, I'll start by introducing myself.

Who am I?

My name, or rather pen name, is Nick Quinn.

I am a 19 y.o. guy from Argentina who loves music, video games, and literature, among other things.

I don't have much to say about myself except that. 

You might be here to read poems not about me, am I right?

Why do I write?

I write because I can... And also because I love poetry. 

My favorite authors of all time are Edgar Allan Poe and Rainer Maria Rilke.

And in addition to that, my favorite poem is Alone by E.A.P since I find it relatable to some extent.

I have so much in mind and many things to express but I'm too shy and introverted so I use poetry as an outlet to all these emotions & stories I have in mind.

I like to say that "my poetry reflects a stage in my own Fool's journey", though I'm highly skeptic I like to see the tarot as Art and I like the tale it tells, after all, we're all Fools or Zeroes at the beginning, and we live and learn till we reach the end of it, which needless to say, is none other than Death. But I'm going off the tracks with this.

Now, am I even remotely good at writing, poetry, or any sort of art?

Unfortunately no, I have zero skills on the subject. I'm more of a reader than a writer.

What type of poetry do you write?

I have no idea if it even fits in a category so... I think free verse.

The themes are varied, they might be either about personal experiences, stories, whatever I feel like writing at the moment. I must do a little spoiler here, I am by no means a poet, writer, or an artist of any kind. So that means my "poetry" might suck, and when I say suck I mean it's not even worth calling it poetry, but anyway, someday I might, or might not, get better at it.

Becoming a poet is not exactly a goal I have in mind, it's just a hobby, it doesn't really matter.

Actually it's THIS exact mindset what will lead me to my own ruin, isn't it?

Oh, well, someday I might, or might not, change it and let my garden's flowers blossom instead of withering under the scorching sun of my own self-loathing.

Why the Velvet Room?

Because it's inspired by the Atlus' Persona video game series' Velvet Room and Zilpha Keatley Snyder's book The Velvet Room.

It's like a comfortable and relaxing space dedicated to read and write, to me at least, that is basically the goal and inspiration behind the blog and its nature.

Beware, by the way, I have no specific schedule for posting my poems or even writing them, so don't expect a poem daily, weekly, monthly, not even yearly.

Studying for my future has me real busy, and emotionally and psychically tired, that among other events going on in my daily life.

Well, that is all I got for now for this introductory post to my silly blog.
